Rich grew up in Hudsonville, MI. He graduated from Grand Valley State University majoring in Criminal Justice. He then went on to pursue ministry at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary and went North in 1991 to be the Associate Pastor at the First Baptist Church in Cadillac MI. He’s lived in Cadillac ever since.
In 1997 Rich assumed the position of Director of Funding and Alumni Relations for Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. Next he spent two years as Administrator of the Heritage Christian School in Cadillac, MI.
In July, 1999 he hit his stride when he joined the fledgling Workplace Chaplains U.S. Since 2010 he has been the Executive Director and has the great privilege of giving vision and leadership to some of the greatest care-givers in the world! He also has the opportunity to interact and problem-solve with some of the most forward looking and engaged executives in the country.
His wife’s name is Amy. She is a fourth grade teacher at Manton Consolidated Schools. They are the proud parents of three delightful daughters; Kate, Jen and Ryleigh and a son, Garrett. The gang has added two super son-in-laws, Jon & Tim, to the mix.
Rich and his family love the outdoors, camping, hiking and biking. Rich played hockey in the Cadillac Men’s League for several years and Rich and Amy can occasionally still be spotted participating in local road races.
His connection to CLL has spanned 25 years as a Camp Pastor, Retreat Leader and Board member.
